Invoice Generator

Create professional PDF invoices with automatic totals

Build a clean, professional invoice in a minute: from/to details, logo, line items with live totals, flat or percentage discounts, tax, and six-plus currencies. The PDF download is real selectable text (not an image), and your draft autosaves in your browser — your invoice never leaves your device.

The money math is done the way accounting software does it: in whole cents with half-up rounding, discount applied before tax. No signup, no watermark, no download paywall.

Invoicing tips

Keep invoice numbers sequential and unique (the pre-filled INV-YYYY-NNN pattern works well), state payment terms explicitly ("Net 30", "Due on receipt"), and always break work into line items — itemized invoices get questioned less and paid faster. Save a finished invoice's PDF somewhere durable; the browser draft is a convenience, not an archive.

Need a document that isn't an invoice? The Text to PDF tool turns any text into the same clean selectable-text PDF, and the Fake Data Generator is handy for demo invoices with realistic client data.

The resume builder works the same way — everything in your browser, real-text PDF out, nothing uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Is this invoice generator really free?

Yes — no signup, no watermark, no paywall at download, no invoice limit. Fill in the form, download the PDF. Many "free" invoice tools gate the download behind an account or stamp their branding on your invoice; this one does neither.

Where is my invoice data stored?

In your browser's local storage, on your device, and nowhere else. Your draft autosaves as you type so you can close the tab and come back, but nothing is ever uploaded — we could not read your invoices if we wanted to. Clearing your browser data (or the "Clear draft" button) removes the draft.

Is the PDF real, selectable text?

Yes. The PDF is built with genuine text layout, not a screenshot of the page — recipients can select, copy, and search the text, and the file stays small. Characters outside the PDF standard-font character set (emoji, CJK) are replaced with close ASCII equivalents or "?", the same trade-off our Text to PDF tool makes.

How are the totals calculated?

All money math is done in whole cents (never floating-point dollars), with half-up rounding at each cent boundary. Order of operations: each line is quantity × rate, lines sum to the subtotal, the discount (flat or percentage) is subtracted, and tax is then applied to the discounted amount. That "discount before tax" order matches standard accounting practice in most jurisdictions.

Which currencies are supported?

USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, and INR are one click away, and you can type any ISO 4217 currency code (CHF, JPY, SEK…) for correct symbol and formatting. Unknown codes still work — amounts render as "CODE 123.45".

What should an invoice legally include?

Requirements vary by country, but the near-universal minimum is: your name/business and contact details, the client's details, a unique invoice number, issue date, a clear description of goods/services with amounts, the total due, and payment terms. VAT-registered businesses typically must also show tax registration numbers and the tax rate/amount — this tool shows the tax rate and amount on every invoice that uses tax. When in doubt, check your local tax authority's checklist.
